So what is Cloud Hosting and our Hosting Cloud, we hear you
ask...
A brief background of Classic Hosting
The majority of web hosting companies run what we call Classic
Hosting. This means your web site is stored and hosted on a single
shared server with typically hundreds of other domains and web sites.
Just imagine if this shared server was filled with corporate web sites.
Now imagine just one of these corporate web sites launches a new
project, and the shared server quickly becomes flooded with traffic to
this one site. Your web site becomes slow, and maybe fails to load
altogether. What would your visitors think?
Thankfully, there is a solution to this problem; the Hosting
Cloud by Level1 Internet
Services.
Virtualisation and Cloud Computing
Our Hosting Cloud technology is based on Virtualisation and
Cloud Computing.
Virtualisation technology enables us to take one large, high
specification server and then split it in to many virtual servers. Most
servers are vastly under-used, and therefore by virtualising (or
splitting) a large server in to smaller ones, we are able to save power
and resources whilst still delivering a great service. These smaller,
virtualised servers are called 'nodes'.
Cloud
Computing involves taking a group of high specification servers and
linking them together to form one large network. Each server in this
network uses virtualisation technology, and because these servers are
networked they are able to work together and share resources. This
network is what we call the Hosting Cloud.
Our incredible Hosting Cloud technology
Our Hosting Cloud technology consists of 2 keystone components,
which are the physical servers and the SAN (Storage Area Network). Nodes
are hosted on the latest super-fast, powerful servers, each with Gigabit
uplinks to a 10Gb/s+ backbone network. All data is stored on our
redundant, speedy and highly scalable SAN platform. This means that our
nodes and your sites will always perform at lightning speeds.
The biggest advantages of our Hosting Cloud are expandability
and reliability. If we find the Cloud is running low on resources, we
can easily add another server to balance the load. When this server is
added, the nodes in the Cloud will automatically scale across the new
server with minimal (or zero) downtime. Similarly, if a server fails or
is taken offline for maintenance, the nodes hosted on that server will
automatically move to another server with minimal downtime.
This incredible service is unheard of in the web hosting
industry, with only a handful of companies offering such technology.
Combined with our amazing Customer Support Team and excellent value for
money, our Cloud Web Hosting is probably the
best web hosting
you can buy!
